CAC Waste Management supplies the trade. Skip hire, grab hire, muckaway, aggregates, readymix concrete, plant hire, roadsweepers, fencing, welfare and storage containers, toilet hire. Their customers are civil engineering firms, groundworks contractors, roofers, fit-out contractors, landscapers, general builders and regional developers, anywhere in the UK. Trade only.
What was wrong
Nothing, because there was nothing. CAC was a brand-new company with no website, no search presence and a launch date to hit. That’s its own kind of problem: there’s no old traffic to protect, but there’s no reputation to lean on either. The site had to make a new name look established from day one.
What I did
A WordPress theme designed and built from scratch for CAC, and only for CAC. No page builder, no off-the-shelf template with the logo swapped in.
The brief came down to one idea: the people using this site are busy. A site manager looking for a grab lorry is on the phone between jobs, not settling in for a read. Every page is built around getting them to the service they need, then getting them in touch with CAC as quickly as possible.
The details:
- Every piece of copy is editable through custom fields built with Carbon Fields. CAC can change a headline, a service description or a phone number themselves, without wrestling a page builder or waiting on me.
- Validated schema markup throughout, so search engines understand exactly what CAC offers and who it’s for.
- Enquiry forms protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, so real leads come through and the spam doesn’t.
- DNS and email deliverability set up properly, so replies to quotes land in inboxes rather than junk folders.
The launch
Three weeks to build, two days to launch. CAC went live on 1 August 2026.
The project started with a brand questionnaire, not a wireframe. Agreeing the tone and look before a line of code was written meant there were no surprises later: the client loved the site from the first look, and that doesn’t happen by accident.
What happened
The site is live, hosted and maintained by me. There’s no further work booked right now. When CAC are ready to push harder on search, the foundations are already there: clean structure, validated schema and a site that loads fast.
What I’d do differently
Not much, and I don’t say that lightly. The brand questionnaire did the heavy lifting. If there’s a lesson here, it’s that one: an hour agreeing the vibe up front saves weeks of revisions at the end.
